Gough memorabilia wanted
It's Time to Celebrate the 30th anniversary of Gough becoming Prime Minister of Australia and his 50th year in public life. 'The Life of Gough' celebration dinner will take place from 7pm on Saturday 30th November 2002 at The Ballroom, Darling Harbour. The night will raise funds for The Whitlam Institute at the University of Western Sydney.
Premier Bob Carr will take on the role as MC for the evening, entertainment is Brian Doyle and guest speakers are Senator John Faulkner, Noel Pearson and of course, Gough Whitlam himself!
HELP! GOUGH MEMORABILIA WANTED! Anyone who has any Gough Whitlam related memorabilia from the last 50 years and wants to donate an item will receive in return a signed black and white photo of Gough Whitlam in appreciation. Old election posters and pamphlets greatly appreciated.
The evening will aid the programs of The Whitlam Institute. Established within the University of Western Sydney, the Whitlam Institute commemorates the life and work of Gough and pursues the public education and research into the causes he championed including, giving a voice and resources to the people of Western Sydney. It will house selected books and papers donated by Mr Whitlam to create the Whitlam Prime Ministerial Collection at the Institute and provide on-line access to papers held both at the Institute and in the National Archives.
