UWS Open Forum: Winning and Losing Elections
Malcolm MacKerras AO, well-known political analyst and author of the Mackerras Electoral Pendulum, will speak at the 2009 Open Forum series on Wednesday 10 June, 5.30pm, at the UWS Parramatta Campus.
Media are invited to the lecture, entitled "Winning and Losing Elections".
Dr Graeme Starr, former Liberal State Director and Federal Ministerial Adviser, will also speak at the forum drawing from his well-established expertise in political science and years of experience in political advising.
Former Australian Human Rights Commissioner and Director of Equity and Diversity at UWS, Dr Sev Ozdowski, will be the MC for the evening.
"Recent debate surrounding an early election has thrown the spotlight once again on our electoral processes," says Dr Ozdowski.
"The timely seminar will provide the community rare access to two of the nations most informed political analysts. And, the evening will be of particular value to NGOs as it will address the issue of how to lobby effectively."
The 2009 Open Forum Seminars, which run throughout the year, are hosted by the UWS Equity and Diversity unit. The series cover topical and contemporary social issues and aim to bring the UWS academic and the Greater Sydney community together.
