UWS Parramatta Campus comes alive as thousands graduate

More than two and a half thousand students will flock to the University of Western Sydney's Parramatta Campus this week to receive their degrees at the 2009 Spring Graduation Ceremonies.

From September 22 to 24, the graduands will don caps, gowns and colourful hoods to attend 11 graduation ceremonies at the historic campus.

The students are drawn from a wide range of fields, including education, accounting, psychology, law, science, engineering, business, nursing and health sciences.

A field of distinguished guest speakers will address the graduands as part of the ceremonies.

Speakers include:

Peter Fray, Editor, Sydney Morning Herald.

Arthur Sinodinos AO, Managing Director, Government and Education, National Australia Bank and former Chief of Staff to Prime Minister John Howard.

Professor Anna Yeatman, Director, Centre of Citizenship and Public Policy, UWS.

Laurie Glanfield AM, Director-General, NSW Department of Justice and Attorney General.

Mike Van Niekerk, Editor, Online, Fairfax Media.

Professor Katherine Gibson, Professorial Fellow, Centre for Citizenship and Public Policy, UWS.

Jason Glanville, CEO, National Centre of Indigenous Excellence.

Anne Cashman, Managing Director, Australia, Lyreco.

Paul Henderson, Executive Director of Engagement, The Smith Family.
