UWS honours its industry partners

Date: 14/12/2009

The University of Western Sydney has recognised the outstanding contributions of its community, industry and government partners at its annual University Awards ceremony.

On Friday 11 December, at a special Parramatta campus ceremony, Partnership Awards were presented to private companies, educational organisations, local government, community groups and individual supporters.

UWS Vice-Chancellor, Professor Janice Reid, says the University is fortunate to have the ongoing support of a diverse range of organisations and individuals.

"Every year, the University's industry partners make a profound difference to the education of UWS students, as well as to the development of the region of Greater Western Sydney," says Professor Reid.

"The Partnership Awards are a way to express the University's gratitude to these organisations and individuals and to nurture positive relationships into the future."

Industry partners were recognised for their various contributions including: workplace placement programs; research collaborations; education partnerships, schools engagement and Indigenous student mentoring programs; and the provision of scholarship opportunities.

Partners were also recognised for their work within the Greater Western Sydney community, including: work to improve the use of hospital resources; the coordination of sexual health programs; contributions to the wellbeing of migrants and refugees; and campaigning for a local AFL team in the GWS region.
